In 1975, China measured the elevation of Mount Everest (Qomolangma) as 8848.13 meters. In 2005, the elevation of the rock face on the top of Mount Everest (Qomolangma) was measured as 8844.43 meters. On December 8, 2020, China and Nepal announced to the world that the newest elevation of Mount Everest (Qomolangma) was 8848.86 meters
